Mosedale Gillatt Architects were commissioned to create a bespoke interior that would transform the perception and experience of the newly refurbished museum. Inspired by the copper and brass of the Keswick School of Industrial Art the interior was transformed with lacquered copper walls, glass display cases and oak shop fittings -all set against exposed natural green slate walls.

‘The design approach respected the existing building at all times, and any new interventions were designed in a contemporary but sensitive way. This incorporated a new entrance, fully updated gallery and museum spaces, new services throughout, a café, education and archive facilities, museum store and offices.’ Allerdale Borough Council
